SALE OF NHPS IN PHARMACIES THREATENED
You can help!
The Canadian Health Food Association places the highest importance on the issue of the adoption by Ontario and Quebec of a national position statement by the Board of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA).
This move will cost the industry, the economy, and federal and provincial governments millions of dollars.
Companies are already planning layoffs as a result of the business they will lose.
CHFA needs your immediate action to help us address the major crisis.
Pick up the phone and call your local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) as well as the federal and provincial Ministers of Health and the Prime Minister's Office in Ottawa.

Working proactively
Here's what CHFA has been doing to address member concerns over the NAPRA position:
- Issued a media statement in Quebec on January 29th;
- CHFA requested and received a clarifying letter from Natural Health Products Directorate that will provide reassurance to retailers and suppliers that the Health Canada Compliance Policy for NHPs remains in effect and has no "end date". Read NHPD's letter here;
- CHFA is in communications with the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health; the Director General of Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD); the Director General of the Inspectorate; the Executive Director of NAPRA; and, an official from the Quebec Order of Pharmacists (OPQ); and,
- CHFA is working with other affected stakeholders to support activities and strategies at the provincial level in an attempt to convince the provincial regulatory authorities that these activities are not in the interest of consumer safety.
